Mumbai embraces Sheru Classic – Asia’s Largest Bodybuilding & Figure Show

History unfolded in Mumbai today as the Professional Body building Championship SHERU CLASSIC kick started with the launch announcement made in a successful press conference. World’s strongest men and figurative women were all present, sharing their experiences! They were very ecstatic to compete in the 1st International Professional level fitness exposition SHERU CLASSIC 2011 which includes Professional Body Building Championship for men and Professional Figure Championship for women.

Mr. Jay Cutler (IFBB professional bodybuilder being current & 4 times Mr. Olympia winner), Mr. Phil Heath (2011 Mr. Olympia), Mr. Kai Greene (Arnold Classic, 2010), Mr. Dennis Wolf, Ms. Nicole Wilkins (2011 Olympia Figure Champion), Ms. Erin Stern (2010 Olympia Figure Champion) and many more went toe-to-toe as Mr. Sheru Aangrish – Founder and Chairman of SHERU CLASSIC delight bodybuilding fans in India to one of the biggest events of 2011 season!The total prize money is a whopping 1, 50,000 USD which is a first–ever in Asia and in fact the 3rd highest in the world!  In Simpler words Olympics of Body building has begun the Indian journey as Sheru Classic is all set to make history.

An emotional Sheru Aangarish expressed,I want to personally thank the biggies of Bodybuilding from around the globe for flying down all the way to India to be a part of the first very fitness league here. I am proud to be an Indian and it is a very emotional moment for me & my brother Hemant Aangrish as we have always shared this vision, and we can rightly say our dream has come true.  I’m glad my initiative to place India on the World Map of Fitness is taking the desired shape.”

Mr. Rana Gurmeet Sodhi, a distinguished Member of Punjab Legislative Assembly from Guru Har Sahai and the Chairman of Sheru Classic Committee states, ‘It is so important to have both physical and mental fitness in today’s time and bringing professional body building to India will encourage the youth towards it.”

Phil Heath, current Mr. Olympia, pointed out, “India is an unexplored territory in terms of this celebrated sport abroad. I am pretty sure Sheru Classic is here to stay and will give platform to many Indian athletes. Bollywood is a huge influence here and after meeting Mr. Sanjay Dutt it was proven. We were glad to meet him and appreciate his hospitality.”

Jay Cutler, a star athlete of Sheru Classic 2011 happily shared, “It is overwhelming to know that people from India respect bodybuilding and I am excited to compete in Sheru Classic 2011 – the first ever pro show in Asia. It gives me the opportunity to meet millions of my fans in Mumbai, Delhi, Punjab and many other cities.”

Varinder Singh Ghuman, the only Indian Professional Bodybuilder in Sheru Classic 2011 emphasized, “It was required to bring to India such a mammoth event of international standards. I am proud and delighted, post a lot of hard training; I am getting to share the same platform with elite international athletes like Jay Cutler and Phil Heath. This will be a moment to cherish and I look forward to many more.”

Nicole Wilkins, Current Olympia Figure Champion states, “It’s my first ever visit to India where I want to put up a great show for all the people out here. I look forward to continue my winning streak. It is very important for all women to take some time out for daily exercise as it helps avoid many lifestyle diseases.”

Nicole Nagrani, the youngest women athlete at the age of 19 years, revealed to all present, “Being half Indian, I am delighted to be here. I am glad that Mr. Sheru has now introduced Professional Bodybuilding and Figure Championship in India. It has always been my dream to be an athlete and I started working on the same from the tender age of 14.  Today, 5 years later I am elated to be an integral part of India’s first ever Professional Figure championship.”

Mr. Sheru Aangrish – Founder and Chairman of Sheru Classic is a professional holistic health and wellness expert, who’s actively involved in the health development giving importance to not just physical health but also mental and social well-being.  He shares a vision with his brother Hemant Aangrish Co-promoter & CEO of SHERU CLASSIC to see India emerge as a leader in the health industry. In 2006 the Aangrish brothers were the first Indian’s to launch a supplements import and distribution business called Douuble H Nutrition ( In 2008 they established Gold’s Gym franchise in North India. Since then, they have opened gyms in Delhi, Noida and Punjab. The Gold’s gym chain in Mumbai is a hub of Bollywood and has over 40 leading Bollywood stars as members.

Sheru is India’s shining star and is the first Indian to achieve tons of sponsorships in the field of health food supplement. An IFBB professional athlete himself, Sheru went to London for higher studies and pursued an M.B.A. in Finance from Kings College, where he began professional bodybuilding. With 14 years bodybuilding experience under his belt he has won many accolades like the British champion in 2002, Mr. India – 1998, the NRI community award in Birmingham (England). He was also pronounced as ‘The most improved Bodybuilder’, and was awarded by Govt. of Punjab to name a few. He gives all the credit to his elder brother Hemant for guiding him and training him all the way through his bodybuilding career.
